I was in the market for a stand mixer and had the intention of buying the usual Kitchen Aid one. However, after burning 5 different hand mixers (different brands), even at the 350 watt strength, I changed my mind as most of the Kitchen Aid mixers available were in that range. Those that were stronger were, of course, much more expensive. This compelled me to do research into other brands. I bought my Viking 5 quart 800 watt and have not regretted it at all. I have now had it over two years and it works perfectly. I use it to make homemade fondant (which is very thick and heavy) and royal icing with no problem. I would definitely recommend this mixer!
